Overview
Located in the heart of Seattle at 5517 University Way NE, Persepolis Grill brings a vibrant taste of Persian cuisine to the city. This cozy and inviting restaurant is a go-to spot for anyone looking to indulge in the rich flavors of the Middle East. From the moment you step in, the ambiance sets the stage for an unforgettable meal.
The menu at Persepolis Grill is a true reflection of Persian culinary tradition, offering a diverse array of dishes that cater to various tastes. For those unfamiliar with Persian cuisine, the kebabs are an excellent place to start. Grilled to perfection, the koobideh, barg, and joojeh kebabs provide a smoky, juicy, and tender experience. The flavors are enhanced by the seasoning, which includes a mix of saffron, turmeric, and a touch of lemon juice, creating a delightful blend that lingers on the palate.
What stands out at Persepolis Grill is the attention to detail. Each dish is crafted with care, and the restaurant prides itself on using fresh, high-quality ingredients. Whether it’s the savory stews like fesenjan or the delicate rice dishes such as tahchin, you’ll notice the balance of flavors that make Persian food so unique. The rice is often fluffy, aromatic, and served with crispy tahdig, the beloved crispy bottom layer, that adds a satisfying crunch to every bite.
One dish that truly shines is the Persian-style lamb shank. Slow-cooked to tender perfection, the meat practically falls off the bone, accompanied by a rich, aromatic gravy that pairs beautifully with the fragrant rice. It’s a must-try for meat lovers and a crowd favorite. For vegetarians, the menu doesn’t disappoint either. The kashk-e bademjan, a smoky eggplant dip, is a comforting starter that pairs perfectly with the freshly baked flatbread.
In addition to its food, Persepolis Grill offers an impressive selection of traditional Persian beverages and desserts. The yogurt-based drink, doogh, is a refreshing complement to the richness of the meal, while the dessert options such as saffron ice cream with rosewater offer a sweet, fragrant finish to the dining experience.
For those seeking a more communal dining experience, the restaurant offers a number of large platters designed to be shared. These family-style dishes allow guests to sample a variety of flavors, making it an ideal choice for gatherings or celebrations. The staff at Persepolis Grill are always eager to make recommendations based on your preferences, ensuring that every visit feels personalized and welcoming.
The location itself adds to the appeal. Situated in Seattle's vibrant University District, Persepolis Grill benefits from a steady flow of both locals and visitors. Its proximity to the University of Washington makes it a popular spot for students and faculty looking to enjoy a hearty, flavorful meal after a long day of classes or work. The restaurant’s casual yet elegant setting provides the perfect backdrop for both intimate meals and larger group gatherings.
While the focus at Persepolis Grill is on exceptional Persian food, the experience here goes beyond just the meal. The restaurant’s decor, featuring Persian-inspired elements, contributes to an atmosphere that feels both cozy and cultural. Whether you're new to Persian cuisine or a seasoned enthusiast, there's something about this place that makes you want to come back time and time again.

Great Persian food in the U District! Enjoyed the smoked eggplant dip with flat bread. Also ordered the Ghormeh Sabzi which was delicious. Food was tasty and plentiful. Atmosphere was casual and quiet. I will definitely go back. Price was reasonable considering current economic conditions.
Excellent Persian food! The staff is super friendly and nice, and the food (fesenjān, saffron ice cream) was amazing! The portion sizes are pretty large- we had two and managed to get full off of one order
I tried Persepolis Grill for the first time today and it was 100/10! The tadig and grimes and Ghormeh stews were fantastic like my mom made as a kid. The kabob was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Must have!
Love persian food. Had the chicken kabob. It was just a tad chewy but delicious. Go with others that are willing to order a few different items and share. Wish they would bring back the salmon dish with polo.
Koobideh was cooked well. Tahdig was also tasty. Portions are huge so keep that in mind. I had to take most of the food back home so it doesn’t get wasted.
I was visiting Seattle and decided to try a Persian restaurant, so I searched online and chose this location. My order was ready quickly, and the food tasted great. The meat was very juicy and flavorful, and the rice was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Persian food. At the end of my meal, I was offered ice cream and tea. I tried the tea, and it was excellent—especially with the homemade sugar cubes.
